Fairfax County police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of an 85-year-old woman over the weekend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends affected by this tragedy.
Police say the victim who was taken to Fairfax Hospital, died from injuries she suffered in the Sunday car wreck. Authorities say the deadly crash happened at the intersection of Braddock Road and Roberts Road.
According to police reports, a 47-year-old man was driving east on Braddock Road when he tried to turn left on Roberts Road. He drove his Ford van into the path of the victims Cadillac which was heading westbound.
While the fatal accident remains under investigation, police say speed and alcohol did not play a role. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed this accident to contact officials immediately.
Although a lawsuit is not generally on a grieving family's mind, in a case like this it is important to get good legal representation on board right away. Following a traffic collision, peoples stories surrounding the accident often change. Unfortunately, it is human nature to some degree to deny responsibility when they cause personal injury or death to another person. An independent investigation is crucial and should be conducted immediately to preserve evidence.
Statistics indicate the most serious traffic accidents occur when drivers are turning left at busy intersections. Since the left turning vehicle enters the lane of traffic for other vehicles the law recognizes that a left turn is a dangerous maneuver. Although there are other contributing factors, the majority of car accidents are caused by driver error or negligence.
