The Hidden Dangers of Energy Drinks
Energy Drinks (e.g. Monster, Red Bull, Rockstar, AMP, or 5 Hour Energy) can be dangerous, especially to people with underlying heart conditions, those sensitive to caffeine and other vulnerable populations.
The multi-billion dollar energy drink industry has not done adequate testing on these products, and the energy drink companies do not properly warn consumers of the dangers associated with the products.
The FDA has never determined that energy drink products are safe.
The energy drink industry is essentially unregulated by the FDA despite the fact that the FDA has received dozens of adverse event reports related to energy drinks.
Some energy drink companies target their marketing at young people, including children under age 18, many of whom have undiagnosed heart conditions because of their youth (the U.S. Senate is investigating this).
When these vulnerable individuals consume energy drinks, the results can be fatal. It is not just the caffeine, it is the synergistic effect of the:
- panax ginseng
... and other synthetic chemicals in energy drinks that seems to be causing cardiac injuries.
How Our Team of Legal Professionals Can Help You
Our law firm is at the forefront of taking on the energy drink industry, and educating the public about the dangers of energy drink consumption. Kevin Goldberg represented the family of 14 year-old child who died after consuming energy drinks, and filed the first wrongful death case against an energy drink company in the United States in 2012.
In 2013 Kevin Goldberg worked with lobbyists and Maryland Legislators and submitted a proposed law to the Maryland Legislature banning the sale of energy drinks to minors in the State of Maryland.
Kevin was also recently interviewed by Michael J. Swanson, author of How David Beats Goliath: Access to Capital for Contingent-Fee Law Firms, and discussed the dangers of energy drinks.
Since that time our law firm has been involved in numerous other energy drink lawsuits including a Private Attorney General lawsuit filed in Washington, D.C.
Attorney Kevin Goldberg has appeared on CNBC and has been interviewed by dozens of newspapers and magazines on the topic of energy drinks, he published an Article in Trial Magazine on energy drink litigation, and has lectured on the topic of energy drink lawsuits to lawyers throughout the United States of America.
