The law offices of Goldberg Finnegan recently attempted to pass a new law in the  Maryland General Assembly to ban the sale of energy drinks to minors (House Bill 1273). Kevin Goldberg spearheaded the effort, and he worked tirelessly with University of Maryland Cardiologist Stacy Fisher, MD and Epidemiologist Amelia Arria, Ph.D. to present evidence at a hearing before the House Economic Matters Committee. Although the proposed law had the unanimous support of the Maryland medical community, including support from the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, University of Maryland School of Medicine, and MedChi, the proposed energy drink law was defeated as a result of intense lobbying by the energy drink industry and the American Beverage Association.
