A violent collision in the early morning hours of June 9 on Indian Head Highway in Prince George’s County left six people injured, including one in critical condition.

According to a Prince George’s County spokesperson, a car and a pickup truck collided near Palmer Road in Fort Washington around 1:40 a.m.

Only the driver was traveling in the car, while five people were in the pickup. All six suffered varying injuries and were taken to several hospitals. At least one female victim was in critical condition, according to police.

Although most of the wreckage was in the southbound lanes of Indian Head Highway, lanes in both directions were closed for more than two hours as police and an accident reconstruction team investigated the collision.

Police have not yet identified a cause of the collision or the circumstances leading up to the crash as the investigation remains ongoing.
