Toyota Motor Corporation, a Japan-based auto manufacturer and one of the worlds largest car companies, has been dealing with an increasing number of recalls during the first quarter of 2015.
The recalled Toyota vehicles have been plagued by suspension bolt defects, steering flaws, and electric motor propulsion failures.
Across the world, thousands of individuals are injured in vehicles involving a manufacturing defect each year, and many drivers and passengers do not even know that a defective car has contributed to their injuries.
In the first four months of 2015, Toyota has recalled more than 100,000 vehicles, including:
- Camry (2015)
- Camry Hybrid (2015)
- Highlander Hybrid (2015)
- Rav4 (2014-15)
- Scion tC Release (2015)
However, the recalls have not put a damper on Toyota’s expansion plans. Toyota is currently building two new automotive plants in Mexico and China. Experts estimate that the company will invest more than $1.5 billion in the new plants in Mexico and China, and will create more than 2,000 jobs in the process.
While it is important for auto companies to proactively remove faulty vehicles from the market via a voluntary recall announcement, the recalls do not always come in time to save drivers and passengers from injuries.
From exploding airbags to loss of power, the number of safety defects over the past few years has skyrocketed. At the end of the day, concerned consumers must remain vigilant and seek legal advice if they are injured in an auto accident involving a recalled vehicle.
