Maryland state police are investigating a series of four separate crashes which occurred along Route 152 near Old Mountain Road within 30 hours of each other.
Friday
At around 6:40 p.m. on Friday, a station wagon driven by Wayne Willick, 59, was traveling south on Route 152. The station wagon had slowed to make a left turn when it was clipped from behind by a tow truck driven by Scott Armstrong from

Baltimore. Armstrong swerved into the opposite lane to avoid the station wagon, and struck another vehicle head-on.
The driver of the vehicle Armstrong hit, 41-year-old Edward Schlossenberg of Belcamp, was killed instantly. His 17-year-old son, Casey, was a passenger in the vehicle and was transferred to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Around 8 p.m. the same night, Joseph Russo from Sykesville came upon backed-up traffic which was waiting for the earlier 3-car accident to clear. He decided to make a U-turn in a driveway to avoid the traffic, but turned into the path of a motorcycle driven by 52-year-old Joseph Kraft. Kraft was thrown from his bike and later died of his injuries.
Saturday
Nearby, about 24 hours later, a 43-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a car in the 1700 block of Trimble Road in Edgewood. Dwayne E. Johnson was walking along Trimble road when he was struck by Ricky Peterson, 54. Johnson was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries and died that night.
Sunday
Later that night, around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, another motorcycle accident claimed the life of Bernard Cross, 52, from Abingdon. He was riding his motorcycle east on Route 7 near Mandeville Lane, when his motorcycle veered off the road and struck a utility pole. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in that crash. In all, four people died and several more were injured in the span of about 30 hours. Maryland State Police are investigating these accidents, and charges may be filed in several.
